I was going for a classic pose in this portrait. The way the child holds the guitar helps keep things genuine and you get a sense that the child is compassionate about the guitar. If used correctly, I believe that props can make a huge difference in portraiture! Matthew isn't a musician(not yet), I don't even think he plays the guitar, however he was able to hold this instrument correctly, which leads the viewer to believe that he does!
As I've always been inspired by the portrait work of Annie Leibovitz. I find myself trying hard to create stunning portraiture of children...not so easy!
A nice way to start 2011 with my daughter turning 1...all I need now is more time to devote to this children's photography blog!
