Cory and Stacey

It's that special time of the year where we get outside with all those couples in love! It's not always about the faces, it can be about the places and things that couples have in common.

Hanging out at the AGO

Pat Tapia/Joey Images

A friend and photography student every so often inspires our group with his work. He was out visiting at the Art Gallery of Ontario and took his point-and-shoot camera. Yes! This shot was taken with the Canon Powershot G10. I'll be sure to tell you more about this amazing camera in a future article or review.
Pat explains that he needed to take the 6 photographs in order to achieve the wider field of view than the G10 allowed. So he had to think outside of the box or in this case, the camera! He hand-held all 6 photographs at 1/60th of second, using an aperture of f8 with a ISO setting of 200. He later post processed in Photoshop CS4; stitched 6 of the images, used levels to adjust the brightness and the digital polarizer filter to add a little darkness to the sky and make the colours in the wood pop! These are those once in a blue moon shots that inspire me to go out and shoot Architecture....nicely done Pat!

Bo Duke gives us a smile!

EXCLUSIVE - Jeff Nolan/Joey Images

TORONTO - Well it's been a long time favorite television show to many worldwide. And everybody remembers Bo and Luke Duke from The Dukes of Hazzard. We had one of our photographer's cover today's assignment at The Motion Custom Car Show. John Schneider made a guest appearance with the original Dodge Charger and was also signing autographs. Special thanks going out to the staff at the show for giving us this opportunity to hang out with John and the well admired General Lee!

The Motion Custom Car Show takes place March 27-29 at the Direct Energy Centre. For more information check out www.motioncarshow.com

Canadian Pride

Thanks to Adam Strongman for being the contributing photographer this week. We had the local Whitby Firefighters on scene, showing their support in the latest repatriation ceremony! As you heard, Canada recently lost another 4 brave soldiers in the Afghanistan mission. And thousands more paid tributes to the loss of our fallen heroes; Master Cpl. Scott Vernelli, Cpl. Tyler Crooks - both of November Company, 3rd Battalion, Royal Canadian Regiment battle group - Trooper Jack Bouthillier and Trooper Corey Joseph Hayes, of the Royal Canadian Dragoons.

Hopefully the ignorant tyrants from Fox News don't make anymore mockery of the Canadian Afghanistan mission. I heard last night that Greg Gutfeld of Red Eye had been making some ignorant comments about the Canadian military, implying that we are so far from being G.I. Joe's....I got a 'gut' feeling that Greg won't be welcomed in Canada!

Mastermind at heart...

Ira Fisher/JOEY IMAGES

World Pro Yo-Yo champion Rob Kitts was at various Mastermind educational stores this weekend to talk to some youngsters and demonstrate his amazing yo-yo skills.  Apparently Rob can also yo-yo with one in each hand and admitted to having 2 black eyes once.  Thanks to all the photographers who submitted their photos for this media literacy field assignment...too many good ones to post!
